Drake held his first annual Ovo (October’s Very Own) Festival in conjunction with Blackberry yesterday (Aug. 1) in his hometown of Toronto, Canada, and took the term “putting on for his city” to another level. Aside from performing a slew of his own hits, Drake brought out the best of the best in hip-hop, including Jay-Z, Eminem, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Bun B and Fabolous for the inaugural event.
I want to bring somebody to the stage. I want to pay homage to a legendary rap group, a dude that came out here to perform for y’all. I want y’all to make some motherf*****g noise for the legendary Bun B one time, Drake said after Bun B’s performance.
Bun B came on stage and reminded the fans of the Aug. 3rd release date of his upcoming “Trill OG” album. Shortly after, Drake introduced “Forever,” his track from the Lebron James documentary “More Than a Game.”
It’s crazy, the feeling I get up here with all these people, this feeling that I don’t ever want to go away. I want this shit ‘Forever’,
Drake said before the double-speed drums off the track blasted through the speakers. Drake performed his verse and when Eminem’s part came on, Eminem himself unexpectedly hit the stage to roars from the crowd. [Read more →]

Last night Drake & Friends performed at Metropolis in Montreal. The show had been sold out for months and everyone was scrambling to get tickets for this anticipated show.
The opening act for Drake was his homie P.Reing from Toronto. I’ve been to a lot of shows in my life and I’ve never seen an virtually unknown opening act get so much love. I was really impressed with P.Reign’s stage presence and performance and how he engaged the crowd. He dropped a little unknown fact about himself that he was born in Montreal in the notorious Little Burgundy neighborhood then he shouted out all the other “hoods” and the crowd when nuts.

Drake is coming back to perform in his hometown, Toronto, at the Molson Amphitheater on Sunday August 1st 2010. Opening for Drake at the OVO Festival will be Young Jeezy as well as Francis and the Lights.

Trey Songz and Drake were wildin’ out at Boston’s Jam’N 94.5 Summer Jam over the weekend. At one point during the show, they had a contest to see who could get the ladies more wild. The dialogue was comedy:
Drake: “I’m not no R&B singer but Ladies on this side, I will f*ck the sh*t out of you…
Trey: Ladies on this side. I know that’s my brother and he’s saying he is not an r&b singer but I got some magnums in my pocket right now. Who wanna go?
Drake: You still wanna play this game? Ladies on this side. What I’d like to do is take some baby oil. Put it in the microwave. I get it nice and hot. I run you a bath, I’ll towel you down and when you get out I’ll rub the baby oil all over your body and do whatever you want me to do. Does that sound good?
Trey: Ladies on my side, you know my tongue get real wet right? Whatever he can do with his hands, I can do with my mouth”…
