SPIN Magazine Presents: All Access with the Rap Superstar
Drake had a triumphant 2010, debuting at No. 1 with his first album Thank Me Later, and nabbing four Grammy noms, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album nods.
At a sold-out holiday show in San Jose last week, put on by local radio station Wild 94.9 FM, the Toronto native took some time to thank those who made it all possible: his fans.
SPIN photog Misha Valdimirskiy tailed Drake at the show, shooting photos as the rapper signed autographs for children from the Make-A-Wish foundation and performed a hits-laden set to 19,000 screaming concertgoers. 
Blogxilla from Global Grind caught a few words with Drake last week at the Fool’s Gold party in New York City. Check out what Drizzy had to say and some sweet photos from the event after the jump.
“Initially, I think I just didn’t know what would happen. I was this rapper with a little bit of buzz, the internet was taking over, and I didn’t know the power of the internet at that point. The true power of social networking and the things we are so emmersed in now. There wasn’t an artist that had been 100% birthed from that outlet and I think to be discovered on MySpace, how I was found, and for it to somehow reach Wayne’s ears and for him to feel so confident about it and call me and to release a mixtape on the internet again and have a record somehow go #1 off a mixtape using the internet as a tool. It was all amazing because it was all a first, I can’t remember that happening in my day. Even if you think of 50, Yay, and Jeezy, I remember having hard copies of all of those tapes. I remember it being more about the radio.

This week I had the great opportunity of joining Ali Muhammad of 21st Century Hustle in documenting Drake visiting the Boys and Girls High School in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. It was amazing to be part of giving back to the borough I have always called home.

The other night J. Cole performed his first show at the Sound Academy in Toronto, Canada. You already know who made a special guest appearance, none other than Drake! They performed “In The Morning” for the first time ever. The crowd couldn’t get enough of Drake to where he also performed a verse from “Up All Night”. This event was extremely hype.
