‘It wasn’t shot the way I would have shot it,’

Anthony Mandler says of Lil Wayne footage shot before he came onboard as director. Drake’s “Miss Me” video is the third project between the rapper and director Anthony Mandler (Jay-Z, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige), following their work together on the Toronto star’s “Over” and “Find Your Love.”

According to Mandler, he and Drake are establishing an aesthetic via their collaborations. Mandler said that “Over” was about re-establishing Drake visually and “Find Your Love” was intended to make Drake the lead in story.

With “Miss Me,” however, the director said the video was a particular challenge because co-star Lil Wayne’s footage was shot prior to Mandler coming onboard. [Read more →]

P. Reign finally drops his latest video featuring a cameo from Drake and Louie “Ox” Rankin from the movie Belly. The video was shot in Reign’s old hood, Galloway, Toronto. Next up P. Reign will be releasing his latest project hosted by DJ Holiday titled, When It Reigns It Pours. Another video will also be dropping, for his new official single titled “Call My Name“.

As we all know, Drake joined Justin Bieber on stage in Indianapolis a couple of days ago. Justin returned the favor by attending Drake’s show last night in Indianapolis at the 2010 Indiana State Fair. In the video below you can peep his amazing drum solo.

Always a gentleman, Drake smiled for the cameras and chatted briefly about his upcoming R&B mixtape and sophomore album at the BlackBerry Torch launch party in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (Aug. 11).

“I’m always accustomed to giving out free music, so I’m working on this new project for free and I’m also working on my second album,” said Drizzy, whose 2009 mixtape So Far Gone helped launch his hip-hop career.

While he didn’t drop any names of potential collaborators on the album, he did say “anything’s possible.”

Drake held his first annual Ovo (October’s Very Own) Festival in conjunction with Blackberry yesterday (Aug. 1) in his hometown of Toronto, Canada, and took the term “putting on for his city” to another level. Aside from performing a slew of his own hits, Drake brought out the best of the best in hip-hop, including Jay-Z, Eminem, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Bun B and Fabolous for the inaugural event.

I want to bring somebody to the stage. I want to pay homage to a legendary rap group, a dude that came out here to perform for y’all. I want y’all to make some motherf*****g noise for the legendary Bun B one time, Drake said after Bun B’s performance.

Bun B came on stage and reminded the fans of the Aug. 3rd release date of his upcoming “Trill OG” album. Shortly after, Drake introduced “Forever,” his track from the Lebron James documentary “More Than a Game.”

Nardwuar interviews Drake and “40″ in Vancouver, BC, Canada!

Drake revealed to MTV on the set of his video “Fancy” that Lil Wayne called him from jail to give him a sneak preview of verses from the forthcoming Carter IV album.

He called me the other day from jail and rapped me two verses, man,” Drake said. “It really made me, like, ‘I gotta do something different. I gotta get sh– together,’ because he’s really got bars and he’s rapping from a broader life perspective, saying these things people love to hear.

Drake also revealed that, although he wasn’t aware of the title of Weezy’s September EP I’m Not A Human Being at the time, he’s definitively a featured guest.
