It looks like Common is ready to bury the hatchet in his war of words with Drake – unless the Young Money rapper airs a response to Com’s ‘Stay Schemin’ remix.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Chicago native reserves some kind words for Drizzy’s music and insists, unless Drake decides to add fuel to the fire, he’s said everything he needs to say on wax.
“I think he makes good music,” said Common, slightly contrary to his previous assessments of Drake’s output. “He’s definitely said some real clever things and made some cool songs. I like his music.”
“I don’t think I had anything to prove. I just felt like somebody stepped and challenged me, so I had to step into the ring. He said some things that I thought were directed at me, so I had to address it back.”
So it looks like the beef is finally drawing to a close, with Common adding he’s ready to “let it be.” However, he left a telling disclaimer: “Now, if something else happens, then I’ll just have to act accordingly.”
While the short-lived battle might not have seen an outright victor, with the drama popping off immediately after the release of Com’s The Dreamer, The Believer album, one of the two artists can probably claim to have got slightly more out of the beef than the other.
