It’s a long way from mixtape infamy to the cover of GQ magazine. But Drake has successfully made that transition, and in the 2010 “Men of the Year” issue of the venerable men’s mag, Drizzy models some high-end Burberry and Billy Reid duds while dropping a bit of news about his next move.

Among the biggest revelations is that he’s decided to call his next album Take Care. Due next spring, Drake promised his second effort will be packed with more inescapable hits like “Best I Ever Had.”

“Don’t think for a second I can’t do better,” he told the magazine. “For Take Care, I’m trying to find a way to make my raps shorter but catchier. I’m trying to condense my thoughts down to 16 bars. And it’s coming out more potent.”

He also explained that after the mega-hype created by his smash 2009 mixtape So Far Gone, he decided to call his major label debut Thank Me Later as a way to preemptively deflate the anticipatory hype he knew he couldn’t live up to. [Read more →]

[J. Cole]
Baby you summertime fine, I let you get on top, I be the underline
Im trying to get beside you like the number 9, dime
You fine as hell, I guess I met you for a reason, only time can tell
But well, Im wondering what type of shit you wantin’
Do you like the finer things or you a simple woman
Would you drink with a nigga, do you smoke weed
Dont be ashamed, it aint no thing, I used to blow trees
Gettin lifted, I quit but shit, I might get high with you

What is October’s Very Own?
OVO is our creative collective. Formed by me, Noah “40? Shebib, and Drake Graham. The company acts as a hub for all of our endeavors—whether they be music, film, our blog or product collaborations like this one.

How did the connection with Canada Goose come about? Did Drake wear Canada Goose before the collaboration? Did you?
We’ve all worn Canada Goose in the past. It’s really the warmest jacket available and that’s what matters living through Toronto winters. We admire CG’s dedication, standard of quality, patriotism, heritage, and their fifty years in the game. We’re very passionate about product and we take pride in recognizing the best. Between Drake and myself, our paths crossed with the people from CG many times. They recognized that we were young kids who were talented, passionate, and obsessive-compulsive, so it’s been really organic. We’d be wearing Canada Goose regardless, but now we’ve applied our sensibilities to a jacket and we’re wearing them across the world. [Read more →]

MIAMI — Lil Wayne’s welcome-home party had all the requirements for an epic bash, from beautiful women to high-profile rap celebrities to enough luxury vehicles out front that someone could start a multimillion-dollar car service.

The glitz wasn’t lost on Drake: The Lil Wayne protégé sported his finest Tom Ford duds for the event.

“I had to suit up for the boy,” Drake told MTV News before stepping inside. “This is great. This is the celebration. This is the night we all get to have fun. I’m officially off duty. I’m here to have fun and celebrate a great, phenomenal, legendary man. That’s why I had to get dressed up.”

Drake was among the many in attendance for Weezy’s party, located at the Alfred I. DuPont Building in downtown Miami.

Nicki Minaj, Cool & Dre, DJ Khaled and the Birdman were all there to fete the recently freed rapper. Wayne was jovial on the red carpet beforehand. Weezy walked in flanked by two women dressed Mardi Gras outfits as a nod to his New Orleans heritage.

“I just wanna thank everybody,” Wayne told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway. “Not only MTV fans, but the fans across the whole world. Most of all, my family. I couldn’t do it without them, and I would never do it without them.”

The final night of Drake’s Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour was a memorable night for several reasons; the most obvious being that his newly freed Young Money mentor, Lil Wayne, surprised fans — and Drizzy — with an impromptu turn at the mic.

Weezy cameo aside, Drake also expressed his pride about the tour overall, especially how his team has honed its craft over the course of the three-month trek.

“I think about where we were four or five months ago, and what we were doing, and I’m just so proud of everybody around me,” Drizzy said in a sit-down with MTV News following the tour’s final stop in Las Vegas Saturday. “The band, adding … my back-up singer, she’s doing great, [she’s] from Toronto, you know I gotta shout her out. Everyone involved has just grown.”

Looking back on how the tour was staged, Drake added that he’s satisfied with the show he gave to fans across the country.

“When I look at pictures and I look at clips online, visually… it looks great, it looks like what I wanted it to look like,” he said. With the successful tour behind him, Drizzy maintained the he’s ready for a new challenge.

“For tonight to be the last night, I’m gonna retire that set and that vision and the name, Light Dreams and Nightmares, and I’m gonna go onto the next thing,” he said. The “Find Your Love” crooner added that he’s glad to have Weezy back in the mix as he embarks on his next endeavor.

“I can’t wait to grow even more, especially with Wayne being out,” he grinned. “It’s gonna be a great year.”

With Drizzy’s tour over and Wayne back on the scene, the Toronto MC said the next step for the Young Money hitmakers is hitting the lab to crank out another banger. For fans that need a timetable outlining when the next Weezy/Drizzy collabo might hit the streets, the MC added a studio date could be just around the corner.

“I would be super surprised if I didn’t get a phone call saying, ‘Let’s go to the studio,’ ” Drake said.

Check out this interview Drake has with Fuse. Justin Timberlake and Drake may be working together in the near future.

“One thing that’s in the works, this is exclusive, this is a moment… One thing that I haven’t mentioned to anybody yet, but will, right now. I‘ve always wanted to work with him and it’s in the works right now. Me and Justin Timberlake will probably have a song soon. I’m really excited about that, cause I’ve wanted to work with Justin for a long time. And we’ve recently talked about it and I think we’re going to make it happen.”

Imagine you hadn’t seen one of your good friends for a long time and they surprised you—in front of 4500 people. That’s how rapper Drake felt during his Lights Dreams And Nightmares Tour finale when Lil Wayne took the stage on Saturday (November 6) in Las Vegas.

“The show was going great, then after the hook of “Miss Me” I just heard … Wayne’s verse,” said the Toronto MC. “That was the first time I’ve seen him since he’s been out. I did a show in LA [the night before Lil Wayne was released] and that time on stage was my first time seeing Wayne out of jail.”
