Tell us what you think!
So this month’s controversy was a rather funny one. I’m sure some of ya’ll remember the guy who released the song “So Krispy” back in July of ‘07. Well, earlier this month at the 2009 BMI Urban Awards, a video surfaced in which the rapper claimed to have co-written our boy Drizzy’s smash hit, “Best I Ever Had,” which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Uhhhh, not the case. Mr. Nakia Coleman actually produced Lil’ Wayne’s “Do It For The Boy” that inspired it.
Drizzy actually borrowed the melody and a couple words from the joint above which Kia Shine produced. In this case, Mr. Carter is credited in the liner notes for “Best I Ever Had,” and Nakia Coleman (Kia Shine) for most likely writing a portion of “Do it For The Boy.” Unfortunately, that’s music politics.
With the most nominations at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards ‘09, our boy Young Angel has a chance to scoop up five awards this year. He’s nominated for “Lyricist of the Year,” “Track of the Year” (with ‘Every Girl’ featuring Lil Wayne, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda & Mack Maine), “MVP of the Year,” “Hustler of the Year” and lastly, “Rookie of the Year.”
It’s still unclear whether or not Drizzy will attend this year’s festivities due to his recent knee surgery, but we’ll get the word to you first if he’s in good health to make it to the year’s show.
The 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards will be hosted by comedian Mike Epps, and will air on Tuesday, October 27th at 8pm ET. Don’t miss it!
Hotly Anticipated EP `So Far Gone,` Features The Smash Hit Single “Best I Ever
Had”!
So Far Gone In-Stores September 15
Breakout hip-hop/R&B sensation Drake has officially signed with Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown Records. On September 15, 2009, Drake will drop So Far Gone, his first mini-album with the imprint while continuing to ready his forthcoming full-length debut album, due out in early 2010.
So Far Gone contains seven songs, including the definitive summer jam of 2009, “Best I Ever Had,” which claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard`s R&B and Hip-Hop Songs chart, as well as the Ringtones chart, plus ranked No. 2 on the all-important Hot 100 chart. So Far Gone also boasts “Successful,” Drake`s sizzling new single featuring Lil Wayne and Trey Songz, which is swiftly edging its way to Top 10 positioning on Billboard`s Hot 100 and Rap Songs charts, among others. Hip-hop superstar Lil Wayne makes multiple appearances on So Far Gone, turning up alongside Young Jeezy on “I`m Goin In” and again on “Uptown,” which also features an assist from Bun B. …Each of the Best New Artist nominees has something working in their favor. Lady Gaga is the biggest commercial success by far, and her unusual fashion sense and penchant for theatrics has made her an instantly-recognizable icon. But that doesn’t mean she’s necessarily running away with it. After all, last year’s Best New Artist, Tokio Hotel, beat out a handful of sales juggernauts like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. Asher Roth’s “I Love College” was huge among actual college students, who are more likely to rally around their computers and cast votes. (Roth seems pretty nonchalant about the awards, though.) Drake and Kid Cudi both have incredible buzz surrounding them and have been immediately embraced by the hip-hop community. (Need proof? They’re both on The Blueprint 3.) And 3OH!3 have gone out of their way to campaign for votes, with a push so intense that they managed to make 3OH!3 a trending topic on Twitter.

Jeezy And Drake Mixtape?
Oh boy. There’s a lot of drama in the rumor mill today so we gonna start it off with something a little more positive. First off the AMW tour is in full effect and nothing but rave reviews are coming in from the road. Despite Drake being absent for most of the tour so far, his presence is still felt and it looks like some collabo work may be coming.
Drake has been an adamant fan of Jeezy since he came in the game, even citing the trapper as his favorite rapper. So far the two have done two tracks together and it is being said the two might link up for an official mixtape. The source who hit me with this info said it was initially Drake’s idea, but Jeezy was all for it when the idea was presented.
This would be a good look. The only thing I’m worried about though is I know Drake is working on his album, so maybe this is just a RUMOR. Either way stay tuned and we’ll have to wait and see…

Everybody remembers the infamous moment where Drake had quite a slip up during a performance that resulted in him being carried off stage. His injury resulted in him being further sidelined as he had to take himself away from the America’s Most Wanted Tour alongside his Young Money general Lil Wayne.
A blog titled, Angels and Demons, from the rapper updated fans on exactly what was going on with his injury and gave the full extent on his circumstances.
“I am about 2 hours away from Toronto, CA where I will be spending the next chunk of time recovering from a surgery that I now must have. I embarked on this tour with a torn ACL, MCL, and LCL and due to the events that happened the other night Lord only knows what other damage I have done.” [Read more →]
Drake fights his demons on “Fear,” the only new material off his 7-track mixtape-turned-album So Far Gone (Sept. 15). The DJ Khalil production serves as the transition from his EP to his first studio album Thank Me Later, due February 2010.
“I never cried when Pac died, but I probably will when Hov does,” he raps on the introspective song.

People are still debating over who had the best verse on “Forever,” the all-star collaboration that leaked earlier this week featuring Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem.
But if you ask the newcomer on that list, Drake, it looks like he’s partial to his mentor, the New Orleans lyricist. Although Drake wouldn’t fully come out and admit it, he did say his favorite rhyme on the track was delivered by Wayne. [Read more →]

“This video again was shot in Toronto,” Drake explained on in a “106 & Park” interview. “It’s directed by Jake White who is like a new kid, he’s fresh and fresh talent, which is great for us. And the concept of the video is the fact that ‘successful,’ it applies to so many people that me and Trey just want to get the point across that we see ourselves and we see success in other individuals so really, it’s a video about potential. It’s a video about understanding that no matter what you do, there’s a way to be successful doing it. It’s one of those motivational videos. It actually ends with a quote from Barack Obama which is one of my favorite quotes I’ve ever read, so we decided to put it in the video. It’s vivid.” (“106 & Park”)
