Drizzy Clears Up Kia Shine’s “Best I Ever Had” Claim

So this month’s controversy was a rather funny one. I’m sure some of ya’ll remember the guy who released the song “So Krispy” back in July of ‘07. Well, earlier this month at the 2009 BMI Urban Awards, a video surfaced in which the rapper claimed to have co-written our boy Drizzy’s smash hit, “Best I Ever Had,” which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Uhhhh, not the case. Mr. Nakia Coleman actually produced Lil’ Wayne’s “Do It For The Boy” that inspired it.

Drizzy actually borrowed the melody and a couple words from the joint above which Kia Shine produced. In this case, Mr. Carter is credited in the liner notes for “Best I Ever Had,” and Nakia Coleman (Kia Shine) for most likely writing a portion of “Do it For The Boy.” Unfortunately, that’s music politics.
